The Saving Water Partnership is a consortium of 18 water utilities implementing the 1% Water Conservation Initiative. The 1% Water Conservation Initiative is a water conservation goal to reduce personal and business water consumption 1% every year for ten years.
If each person and business in the region can become 10% more efficient in using water over the next ten years, it will save approximately 14.5 million gallons of drinking water per day. This amount of water will meet the needs of the estimated level of growth within King County over the next ten years. In essence, the 1% Conservation Initiative can hold water demand constant - with the region using no more drinking water in ten years than it uses today.
Leveling out the impact of growth on the region's water supplies will reduce diversions and keep more water in our mountain rivers for salmon and other aquatic resources. Conserving water is an integral part of our commitment to wise management of natural resources.

2006 Residential Water Conservation Benchmarking Survey and Attribution/Consumption Analysis
This survey of our direct service and wholesale water residential customers focuses on attitudes and behaviors relating to water use and conservation. Responses are compared to previous, similar surveys to see how these indicators have changed over time. This year for the first time we compared responses to the respondent's water consumption in cases where they provided their addresses (over 60% of respondents did so). This provided an additional dimension to the survey allowing correlations between attitudes and behaviors and relative consumption. View the Final Report (pdf)
